Each of these small groups is discussed below.
Quilting, Knitting, & Crocheting: The Yarnovers
The Yarnovers are a group of knitters, crocheters, and quilters who enjoy doing charity work for the church and others. You'll find their creativity at work Wednesday mornings in Fellowship Hall from 9:00 a.m. until noon. A second group of knitters and crocheters meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The yarnovers make projects which are donated to Lutheran World Relief, the People's Church, and the Linus Project. They also create prayer shawls for special folks with a need for extra prayer and make baby blankets which are presented to all babies baptized at RLC. Other projects are afghans, mittens, scarves, bandages for military, wee hats for infants, and gifts for the Sunday School staff. Donations of cotton fabric and various yarns are much appreciated. Discussion Group
Books are their delight! Occasionally they will share a movie or take a field trip. They meet at church on the first Tuesday of the month from 9:30 a.m. until 12 noon. The meetings start with a chat, a brief devotion, and treats usually associated with the theme of the current book or movie. Contact Ellen Chovan (320-597-3094) for a list of this year's books. Fell free to join them whether you have read the book or not.
Men's Group
The men's group meets for fun activities like bowling, hunting, golfing, cribbage, and football viewing. For example, they did trap and skeet shooting at the Albany Sportsman's Club last summer.. Contact Bob Pederson (320-248-0510) or Frank Haynes (320-845-7789) for further information.
Busy Mom's Group
Busy moms meet the third Tuesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Child care is available. The evenings start with coffee and conversation. Devotions and small group discussions follow. We talk about parenting issues, how to maintain a healthy Christian environement in our homes, plus have fun and food. Meetings may include a craft, a service project, or baking cookies. Singing at Arlington
Love to sing? One the second Thursday of each month from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m., this group leads a songfest at Arlinton Place in Saint Joseph. It's a time to spend meeting and singing with the residents of an assisted living complex. The music is fun and easy to sing, and provided when people arrive. Participants leave for Arlington Place from the church at 6:30 p.m. Feel welcome to join the fun as often as you like. Contact Lisa Wallin at 320-363-1056 for further information.
Aging Parents Support Group
Are you in the position of having to take care of aging parents at the same time you are raising a family? This can be a very stressful time. Join this group for caring conversation. It meets the first Tuesday each month at 6:30 p.m. If you find yourself in need of answers or support during what can be a difficult time, you are welcome to join. Contact Pastor Linda for more information.
Confirmation Parents
Confirmation class typically meets Wednesday evenings at 7:10 p.m. Whenever the class meets, parents have an opportunity to gather to talk about issues relating to parenting and to look at the lessons the Confirmation students are learning. The group meets in Pastor Linda's office. Discussion is very informal and flexible. Please stop in sometime. No need to sign up. For further information, contact Pastor Linda at 320-363-4232.
Bible Study
There are multiple opportunities for bible study in small groups. See Adult Education for details.
GREEN Team
This is a newly forming group, that will meet to visit about the concerns of going environmentally GREEN in our own congregation and homes. Part of our journey of faith is caring for God’s creation, we want to take a step forward and make a difference in our community. We have been blessed yet again by Rebecca Haug, who has a passion for being environmentally friendly. She has agreed to “lead the charge” in making our church a greener place. Please join us!
Mother & Daughter Events
We have enjoyed luncheons together for special opportunities.
Look for other events to come, such as retreats, day events on self-esteem and maybe spa or chocolate might be involved. Ideas are welcome! Contact Pastor Linda for information.
Women’s Ministries
This year there are a number of retreats, such as a Women’s Retreat, several Quilting Retreats, and a Knitting Retreat. These events are usually coordinated with Green Lake Lutheran Ministries. For upcoming events, see http://www.gllm.org/
