Property committee Annual Report for 2009
As the church building gets older more and more maintenance issues will continue to arise. So far we have had fairly good luck with selecting our improvements instead of having “Murphy” select them for us.
We had to replace our phone system as the result of a lightning strike this summer, and Dan handled it seamlessly. Dale has been doing a great job keeping the church more than presentable for our membership and visitors. Plus, Nadine, Kathy, Karen B, Karen K, and I don’t know who else, have been doing a wonderful job of decorating the church for every season, and every occasion. Your talents do not go un-noticed.
Our parking lot was probably the largest single expense this fiscal year, coming in just under $4000. However, this was just a band aid as the lot will need some serious consideration in the future. A frozen pipe last winter in the Education wing caused a little back up, but nothing our friendly plumber couldn’t fix.
We are trying to get some members with ideas to improve the landscape in the front of the church, as the current shrubbery is getting a bit aged and creates some shoveling issues in the winter months. Just notify any council member of any ideas you may have.
We just installed a water softener / filtration system that will improve the quality of the water we drink, decrease operating costs and increase longevity of the equipment.
Once again we rented our lawn mowing equipment from Lee’s Ace Hdwr in St. Joseph and volunteers took turns grooming the lawn, trimming trees and cleaning up the ditches. Thanks again to those volunteers that help each spring and fall with the cleanup projects.
We are always looking for volunteers to serve as committee members for all aspects of the church, your time and talents are valuable assets, give them freely.
Please except my sincere gratitude for all the help everyone has provided over the year in maintaining our church and grounds.
